Vocal Ensembles
SERENATA (S,SA)
This is a year-long course offered to 6th-8th grade students as a developing course in the choral sequence. Student are expected to develop proficient skills in basic music theory, music reading and sight-reading. This course will assist in solidifying vocal technique, music theory, music history and sight-reading. In addition, this course will offer varied levels of choral literature moving towards increased parts and harmonies written for soprano/alto voices. Requirements include developing levels of musicianship, leadership, responsibility and respectable character. Students are required to participate in all major performances as a major part of their grade. Also, throughout the year the students are expected to participate in choir competition such as, Solo and Ensemble, All- Region and UIL Concert and Sight-Reading.
BELLA VOCE CHORALE (SA, SSA)
This is a year-long course offered to 6th-8th grade students as a continuation in the choral sequence. Student should be proficient in basic music theory, music reading and sight-reading. This course will explore deeper in vocal technique, music theory, music history and sight-reading. In addition, this course will offer advanced choral literature with increased parts and harmonies written for women’s voices. Requirements include having a high level of musicianship, leadership, responsibility and respectable character. Students in the Bella Voce Chorale are required to participate in all major performances as a major part of their grade. Also, throughout the year the students are expected to participate in choir competition such as, Solo and Ensemble, All- Region and UIL Concert and Sight-Reading.
LYRES (TB, TTB)
This is a year-long course offered to 6th-8th grade students as a developing course in the choral sequence. Student are expected to develop proficient skills in basic music theory, music reading and sight-reading. This course will assist in solidifying vocal technique, music theory, music history and sight-reading. In addition, this course will offer varied levels of choral literature moving towards increased parts and harmonies written for tenor and bass voices. Requirements include developing levels of musicianship, leadership, responsibility and respectable character. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in all major performances as a major part of their grade. Also, throughout the year the students are expected to participate in choir competition such as, Solo and Ensemble, All- Region and UIL Concert and Sight-Reading.
ARIA CHORAL (SATB)
This is a year-long course offered to advanced 6th-8th grade students by audition in the choral sequence. Student are expected to develop demonstrate proficient skills in basic music theory, music reading and sight-reading. This course will assist in solidifying vocal technique, music theory, music history and sight-reading. In addition, this course will offer advanced levels of choral literature moving towards increased parts and harmonies written for soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices. Requirements include advanced levels of musicianship, leadership, responsibility and respectable character. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in all major performances as a major part of their grade. Also, throughout the year the students are expected to participate in choir competition such as, Solo and Ensemble, All-Region and UIL Concert and Sight-Reading.
