Vocal Ensembles
Junior Varsity Singers
This is a year-long course offered to developing high school treble students in a choral experience. The main goal of this group is to prepare each piece we perform exceptionally well – emphasizing accurate pitches, diction, phrasing, musicality, balance, blend, vocal production, and correct period practices. To achieve this, students are expected to know their parts completely. Initial rehearsals will focus on part learning, while subsequent repetitions will address the other musical aspects listed above. Student learning will also focus on how to develop and improve independent musical study and practice techniques outside of class. Students are required to participate in all major performances as a significant part of their grade.
Treble Singers
Treble Singers is a course that includes our high school treble singers. Even though this ensemble meets during the same class period as their primary ensemble, they are primarily featured individually in performances. This ensemble, available to grades 9-12, prepares students for a lifetime of singing. In addition to learning the repertoire, students will learn proper vocal technique and music theory. The Treble Singers will sing a varied repertoire of literature selected from antiquity to the present in two-part, three-part, and four-part treble voicing.
Tenor-Bass Singers

Exploratory Music Singers
This class focuses on the exploration of music through performance, movement, and creativity (original compositions, programming, and culture representation). It offers individuals the opportunity to expand their talents by including the study and performance of literature from the medieval period through today’s pop music.
Academy Singers (Premier Ensemble)
This is a year-long, upper-level performance opportunity offered to experienced music students who are accomplished in vocal performance. Student should be proficient in music theory, music reading, and sight-reading. This course will explore deeper in vocal technique, music theory, music history, and sight-reading. In addition, this course will offer advanced choral literature with increased parts and harmonies, incorporating staging and movement, as well as develop critical thinking skills through the analysis of musical elements, including form and text. Students should also be able to demonstrate proper vocal techniques, dance ability, coordination, and stage presence. Requirements include having a high level of musicianship, leadership, responsibility and respectable character. Students in the Symphonic Chorus are required to participate in all major performances as a major part of their grade.
