HS Mixed, Tenor/Bass & Treble UIL- April 13th & 14th

Hello, high school parents, guardians, and students!

First, I wanted to thank you for supporting our after-school rehearsals these past few months. It has made a difference!

Here is how UIL week will look for our High School singers. Please note we are at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest (held at AISD Center for Visual & Performing Arts) on TWO different days and at TWO different times.

Wednesday, April 13th

On this day, Mixed Choir (4th/8th period – HS Varsity ONLY) will be at contest. These students will be leaving campus around 12:15 pm and returning no later than 3:30-4:00 pm.

Thursday, April 14th

On this day the Treble and Tenor/Basses (All HS choir students – both Varsity & JV) will be at contest. These students will be leaving campus around 1:15 pm and returning by 7:30 pm. We will be going to dinner after. Have your student bring $10-15 for dinner; more information regarding dinner plans will be updated soon. Look for this information on our website calendar links.

We need parent volunteers on both days! If you are willing to help chaperone, please fill out this link

Attire checks: These are just a few things to keep in mind.

Those wearing a Tux:

· It might be a good idea for your student to try on all pieces. Our students grow.

· Socks – students need a long dress sock. It is tradition that we wear “fun/crazy” socks, but please make sure they ARE NOT WHITE socks.

· Shoes – students must wear their black TUX shiny dress shoes, no tennis shoes. These shoes were given out at the beginning of the year.

· Shirts – make sure they are nicely pressed and clean.

· Tux pants & vest- since you cannot iron these materials, feel

free to steam them.

· Hair – make sure your student’s hair looks fresh/clean and out of the eyes. Those with longer hair may need to pull it back or use some type of product to keep it still.

Those wearing a Dress:

· It might be a good idea for your student to try on all pieces. Our students grow.

· Black opaque knee-high Nylons are required with formal dresses. (These are the thicker Nylons that you CAN NOT see-through.)

· Since you cannot iron this dress, feel free to steam it to get the

wrinkles out.

· Hemming – make sure your dress hem is not coming off. If so, you have some time to get it repaired.

· Shoes – student must wear their black character shoes. These character shoes were given out at the beginning of the year.

· Hair – make sure your student’s hair looks fresh/clean and out of the eyes. Those with longer hair may need to pull it back or use some type of product to keep it still.
