Competition Reminder

TMEA All-State Area is this week. Please read the information regarding the Who, What, When, Where, and Why!

Who: All HS students auditioning for Round 4

What: Area All-State

When: Saturday, January 8, 2022.

Where: Music Building, University of Texas at Arlington

700 West Greek Row, Arlington, TX 76019

Leaving: Meeting and leaving GPFAA @ 7:15 am

Returning: Please meet at the school around 6:00 pm for pickup. Chair announcements should begin at 4:30. Your student will give you a call once they are giving permission to have their phones back.

Permission Slips: If you already filled out a permission slip for the retreat, you do not need to fill another one. We have one permission slip per semester. VERY IMPORTANT: If you are taking and/or picking up your student from the competition, you will need to fill out the additional permission called “Alternate Student Travel Form.” Please fill out the form online via your www.gpfaavm.com account no later than Thursday, January 6th. Please remember that alternate student travel forms need to be filled out every single time a student does not use district-provided transportation. (This is a district rule!)

Transportation: district school bus

What to bring: original music, student ID (for the bus), snack, water, pencil, paper clips, highlighter

Food/Lunch: The cost of the boxed lunch for all students will be covered. UTA lunch includes choice of a turkey, ham, roast beef, chicken, tuna salad sandwich or grilled veggie wrap, chips, apple, and cookie. If your student is on a strict diet and can not have this, please have them bring their own lunch or snack.

Attire: No specific attire is needed. Plan for comfort and success.

Chaperone/Volunteer: No Chaperones needed for this event! But would be great to have as many parents present for the results! Results area located down below. Also free parking is listed below as well–please do this if you decide to come for the results.

Point of Contact: Students cannot have any electronic devices at the competition. All electronic devices will either be turned in at check in at registration or given to Mr. Duarte. Students do not receive their devices until the competition is completely over and all singers have exited the facility. Once we have been given permission, we will make sure your student contacts you.

All-State Announcement Location: 

Please communicate with parents that the final announcement of Audition Results and All-State meeting will be at the Maverick Activities Center or MAC. The results will not be read before 4:30 PM. Parents will be allowed into the space beginning at 3:15 PM. I have been asked to inform my parents to not arrive before 3:15 to be let in. 

Parking for parents and students meeting at UTA:

Free parking is available in all lots, as well as in the West Campus Parking Garage. Please note each vehicle must register for an E-permit.
